| I had gotten two one-pound spools of Peaches and Cream from Jeff's mom for Christmas 2003, which is 1680 yards of pale yellow, worsted weight cotton. That's a lot of yarn! Naturally, it was meant to be a blanket. I still have about 500 yards left.
I originally started this blanket for one of the many babies on the way at the time. I didn't have an exact idea of whose it was going to be. As a result, I ended up working on the other baby gifts first and working on this one when I had time left over. Which pretty much meant never. So it became a low priority, so low that it took a year to finish. By that time the babies had all gone to college. |

The pattern was taken from Baby Blankets from the Vogue Knitting on the Go book series. The pattern is called Little Lambs and it is a crib blanket done in one color, mainly with reverse stockinette with moss stitch border and blackberry stitch lambs. I ended up knitting it with size 6 circular needles. I'm not sure what the final dimensions are but I'm fairly certain it's much larger than a "crib blanket" should be. This blanket became known as "the blanket" among my OT classmates. They saw me knitting it off and on for a year, for one thing. "You still working on the blanket?" Also, since I didn't have any particular child in mind when I knitted it, I decided that the first member of our class to reproduce will get the blanket. Of course, they all know about this, and all joke as to whom will get "the blanket." We all have our suspicions. |

I must say, I sure was glad when this project was over. After each project I like to think about what I learned from it. For this one I learned that I will probably not be making another blanket anytime soon. |
